Everyone has a different preferred methods and tools to get ‘er done. That’s fine. What are some items you would recommend every new beekeeper place in their tool buckets, boxes, bags, etc.?
I’d say, besides the obvious such as your hive tool, a sugar water sprayer, and a bottle of water here are a few more things to add to your bucket:
large rubber bands
shims and level to level hives
extra matches
queen catcher
queen marking pen
queen cage
bread knife
honey bee gone
benadryl
bee brush
lots more!
A small container to collect all the burr comb one scrapes during a visit and another for collecting scraped propolis. Both of those can be emptied into larger containers back home until useful quantities accumulate.
For leveling we use a 2 inch diameter round bubble level. Smaller to carry and handier than repositioning a torpedo or beam level.

I second the small container. I forgot mine today and had to leave the scrapings in a pile to one side. Messy, unhygienic and a waste of good wax, I could have used myself.
